  1. As someone who grew up in, and has recently returned to, the frozen wastes of Upstate New York, I know a dirty secret about snow that most southerners don’t. It’s like knowing someone casually and then living with them and seeing all their bad habits. Unlike Virginia, New york snow doesn’t gracefully exit after a couple of days — it stays, like an unwanted relative, turns black and a horrible shade of brown and morphs into a substance more skin to concrete than fluff. I want it to be spring.
